Maple and Moon Winter Portrait Party

Let me tell you a little about my studio.

If you don’t know, Maple and Moon Creative is my other little business that I pour my heart into with my other half @micaylaajean .

Almost a year ago, we were searching for a space to shoot indoors and host workshops in but continued to come up short. So, we opened up our own. It hasn’t only allowed me to expand my own photography business to be year round, but we get to share the space with others to do the same. Photographer and creatives rent it out to shoot all sorts of work in as well as host creative events and workshops. The people, the community, how it keeps evolving and expanding. That’s all the best part.

These photos I shot are from this our Winter Portrait Party that we hosted – my absolute favorite way we use our space. This was our 4th Portrait Party this year. Each we have sold out and each we meet some of the most radiant and beautiful women (and men!). These women here were such open hearted and fun to work with. They each started a little nervous telling us how awkward they were going to be and how we needed to please tell them exactly what to do. Well, we didn’t tell them what to do but we allowed them space to be THEMSELVES. And… I think it really shows. There was a point during each session where we could feel them let down their guard and be more vulnerable. That’s always where the magic happens.

Here are just a few shots I loved from our afternoon in the studio. If you missed this one, we’ll be hosting another in the Spring! Follow us at @mapleandmooncreative to stay up to date!
